The Rangers’ acquisition by the San Francisco 49ers Enterprises group has finally been accomplished.

James Tavernier Rangers exit on cards as £60m San Francisco 49ers' claim emerges

The group led by Paraag Marathe and Andrew Cavenagh has acquired a majority stake in the Govan outfit.

The announcement brings an end to months of conjecture, and the Ibrox club can now go forward with its preparations for the summer transfer season.

Rangers stars react as 49ers takeover confirmed

It is a critical summer for the Gers as they strive to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from Celtic.

The takeover represents a new era for Auchenhowie, and work will begin immediately to address the mistakes of the old leadership.

The Light Blues announced the acquisition on Instagram, writing:

“Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce that a consortium of investors, led by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises, has purchased a majority stake in the club, with approval from the Scottish FA.”

“The consortium will chart a new strategic vision for the club’s future prioritising on-pitch performance and long-term financial sustainability.”

Current Gers stars Jack Butland and James Tavernier liked the post.

49ers have huge job at Rangers

As they take over the club this summer, the new owners will face a daunting assignment.

The Bears’ playing group requires a massive renovation, as they are currently unable to compete on the pitch with Brendan Rodgers’ team.

Several prominent players, including Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande, could go, with interest expected from south of the border.

Their most important decision, however, will be who will succeed Barry Ferguson, who left at the end of the season after replacing Philippe Clement in February when the Belgian was fired.

Finding the right individual is critical since it could determine the success of the takeover, with Davide Ancelotti being the leader for the post after Steven Gerrard appeared to rule himself out of contention.

Overall, it’s an exciting moment to be a Gers fan, and there will be plenty of twists and turns in the coming months, both on and off the pitch.

It’s about time that positivism returned to the blue half of Glasgow; it’s been a sad few years since winning the title in the 2020-21 season, and maybe the new owners can bring it back.
