For more than a decade, Celtic and Rangers have been polar opposites.
The table does not lie, and Celtic’s comfortable advantage at the top will mean one thing: the Premiership title will remain where it belongs, at Parkhead.
While Brendan Rodgers is smoking a cigar and about to win another championship, the fans at Ibrox are fed up with their manager, Philippe Clement.
The Rangers manager pulled a rabbit out of the hat after the New Year, claiming his first victory over Celtic.
However, normal business has resumed as Rangers have continued to drop points, prompting their home fans to act, including a staged walkout during their weekend win over St Johnstone.
That divided opinion and sparked controversy because some Rangers fans prefer their supporters to support their club, while others feel compelled to express their displeasure with how mediocre they are on and off the pitch.
But as all of that happening, Martin Keown threw some simple Celtic truth bombs on folks across Glasgow.
Martin Keown says Rangers fans are ‘bitter’ about being second to Celtic
Keown has played in the most important games of his career, so he understands the strain of playing on such a large platform, and Glasgow is surely up there.
However, the former England centre-back believes Rangers fans are simply ‘angry’ over finishing second to the Scottish champions.
In an interview with Jim White on talkSPORT (13/01/25 at 11:45 a.m.), Keown advised the Gers to simply support their team and ‘draw a line’ under their recent actions.
“I put this to you Jim (White), is this not just a bitterness from the Rangers fans,” said Keown. White then responded: “A bitterness?”
Keown then continued: “A bitterness for being second-best right now because they are second-best.”
White then added: “Of course, they are second-best and they are bitter about it. Of course and they want the board to do something about it.”
Keown then stated: “That’s the reality. Isn’t it best to just get behind the club?” White then argued: “Their argument is they can get behind the club, but the players and the team isn’t good enough.”
Keown added: “Right now, they have had their walkout. Okay, draw a line under that.”
How many trophies has Brendan Rodgers won at Celtic?
Rodgers has seen through numerous Rangers managers while winning Scottish trophies.
The Northern Irishman returned to Celtic in the summer of 2023, following his controversial decision to depart for Leicester City in 2019.
Rodgers has won three trophies since his return, and the shadows that hung over his departure for Leicester have already dissipated, as he is on track to win another treble, having done so previously.
Rodgers has won eleven trophies as Celtic manager.
