However, rather than visiting Celtic Park, the controversial manager will be in Ibrox when Fenerbahce face Rangers in the second leg of their Europa League contest.

Mourinho has a connection with Scotland, having begun his coaching career there and having previously worked with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

When the 62-year-old first landed on British soil in 2004, he was appointed manager of Chelsea, and a year later, he hired a young Rodgers to run the London club’s academy.

Fast forward to the present, and Rodgers has had an incredible career, while Mourinho has gone on to become one of the best managers of all time.

But could the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ one day manage Celtic’s power, or perhaps Scotland and the opposing side?

Not that Celtic require a change because everything is running smoothly under Rodgers, but Mourinho did not exclude out managing in Glasgow.

With the San Francisco 49ers planning to take over the Rangers, some believe this could open the door for Mourinho, but Alan Brazil has quickly shut that down.

In response to Mourinho’s words, the Celtic-daft pundit stated unequivocally that if he does come to Glasgow, there is only one place to join, as he told talkSPORT.

“Don’t even think of going there, Jose,” said Brazil about Mourinho possibly becoming Rangers boss. “There is only one place to go. Don’t even think about it.”

Presenter and Celtic fan Shebahn Aherne responded: “The thing is, Brendan Rodgers has had a really good season. Celtic have been brilliant this season.”

Brazil added: “Oh, he is going nowhere.” Before Aherne stated: “Barry Ferguson, we know is manager until the end of the season for Rangers. I doubt that there isn’t a longevity plan there for Barry, anyway -Is Rangers not his (Mourinho’s) kind of club? Right now?”

Brazil then stated: “No, Jose is a good guy.” Before Aherne added: “Look what he did with Roma. Where he is now with Fenerbahce. You could see him at an iconic club. Somebody like him going in.”

Brazil added: “Steady. No, I don’t know what you mean – it would be interesting if he was. We don’t know what Brendan is going to do at Celtic. But Rangers clearly need something – but he will remember Seville when Porto beat Celtic and the Celtic support there was amazing.”

‘Unbelievable’ Celtic and Porto UEFA Cup final in 2003

One of Mourinho’s other links with Celtic dates back to 2003 and that match in Seville.

During Martin O’Neill’s tenure, Celtic suffered a sad defeat in the UEFA Cup final against Porto, led by José Mourinho.

It was arguably made better by Mourinho’s career achievements and the knowledge that he would win the Champions League a year later, as Brazil recalled Celtic’s ‘unbelievable’ support for that game.

“It was unbelievable. You couldn’t get a flight from anywhere in the UK into Spain. You had to fly out to Germany and fly back in. It was unbelievable. He was there. What a game it was. Porto won.”
