Former Alabama DB Xavier McKinney slams Giants for Jevon Holland move

NFL free agency got off to a fast start this week, and we’re seeing new moves for former Alabama football players. At this time last season, stud safety Xavier McKinney signed a new lucrative contract with the Green Bay Packers, and he performed admirably in his first season with the organization.

Why Jevon Holland didn't re-sign with Dolphins, landed with Giants instead

McKinney, on the other hand, hoped to remain with the New York Giants, whom he was picked by in 2020. Instead of paying him, GM Joe Schoen allowed McKinney and Saquon Barkley to sign with other teams. How did that turn out for him?

On Tuesday morning, Schoen announced the signing of veteran safety Jevon Holland to a three-year contract worth $45.3 million. So, a year ago, Schoen refused to make McKinney happy, but now he’s putting a lot of money on the table for Holland, who has a history of injuries. Yeah, it doesn’t make sense, and McKinney himself seemed to be very irritated about NY’s recent move:

In his most recent Twitter post, McKinney said, “You thought last season was impressive … okay bet watch this, you ain’t seen (expletive) yet.” Taking a look at the replies to his post, NFL fans are convinced McKinney is taking a shot at the Giants.

Last year, McKinney expressed his emotions about his previous team. That didn’t stop him from putting on a show in the NFC North, as the veteran defensive back delighted Brian Gutekunst with a memorable 2024 season. McKinney was selected a Pro Bowler and First-Team All-Pro after recording a career-high eight interceptions.

Holland has five interceptions over the last four seasons. McKinney is pleased to call Green Bay home, and he is now even more determined to remind Schoen that he squandered an opportunity to sign a multi-year contract with him.
