Kris Boyd has provided his judgement on Rangers’ summer transfer activities.
Gers are anticipated to have new owners by the time the window opens.
The San Francisco 49ers hope to complete the takeover within the coming weeks.
Vaclav Cerny mooted to leave Ibrox this summer – Boyd
Boyd has criticised Gers for leaving it too late to finalise a deal to recruit Vaclav Cerny.
The 27-year-old joined Rangers from Wolfsburg this summer and has been one of the first names on the squad sheet.
He has contributed consistently in the final third at a time when the rest of his teammates have mostly been inconsistent.
Matches | Starts | Minutes | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards | Shots Per Game | Pass Success % |

Boyd wrote in the Scottish Sun: “When it comes to Cerny, though, I wonder if Rangers have left it too late to get a deal done with Wolfsburg for the Czech.
“He’s been exceptional. In a team that has struggled so badly domestically, he has shown himself to be a class act. But it’s typical of the club’s recruitment that a permanent deal hasn’t been written in stone before now.
“Rangers? They sign loan players then watch as values soar and they become too pricey to keep.
“Remember Abdallah Sima? Or Malik Tillman? They came to Ibrox for first-team football only to pack their bags and move on to Champions League clubs elsewhere.
“If Gers have some sort of gentleman’s agreement to sign Cerny for £5.5million this summer, hopefully they will get that done.
“But if it’s not there in black and white, I fear his days at Ibrox are numbered.”
NFL giants 49ers are likely to make an attempt to keep Cerny at Rangers
Rangers cannot be totally blamed for failing to get a permanent agreement for Cerny from Wolfsburg, as the Light Blues are now undergoing a huge transition with an expected acquisition by the San Francisco 49ers.
This ownership change, which is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, naturally turns the focus away from imminent transfer decisions, as the new owners will most likely want to examine the team and match signings with their long-term goals.
Cerny, a brilliant performance on loan this season, has been a bright spot in an otherwise erratic Gers team, but blaming the delay in his permanent transfer on the club’s recruitment plan ignores the bigger picture.
With the takeover looming, it’s logical to anticipate that large financial commitments, such as Cerny’s £5.5 million deal, will be put on hold until the new government takes control, though he’s expected to cost more.
The 49ers, famed for their strategic planning in the NFL, are likely to prioritise retaining Cerny if the manager believes he is vital, using their resources to finalise a deal post-takeover.
Previous examples, such as Sima and Tillman, indicate recruitment hazards, but the current ambiguity derives from timing rather than incompetence, offering Rangers a legitimate excuse for the delay.
