Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to depart Everton in the summer once his contract expires at the end of the season.

There is also question about the future of Armando Broja, who is on loan from Chelsea.

Inter Milan are also in the race to sign Gudmundsson

According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees want to compete with Inter Milan for the signing of Gudmundsson, who is currently on loan from Genoa.

Fiorentina has the option to acquire him at the end of the season, but it is unclear whether they would exercise that option.

If they do not, Everton will have the opportunity to sign the Icelandic international for a sum of no more than £20 million, making him cheap to them.

The biggest threat, however, comes from Inter, who are the frontrunners to sign the 27-year-old.

Regardless of how successful this transaction is, the Toffees are in for an interesting transfer window.

David Moyes can surely benefit from having Gudmundsson at Everton

Gudmundsson would be a fantastic addition for Everton because of his versatility, proven goal-scoring ability, and compatibility with David Moyes’ tactical setup.

The 27-year-old Icelandic forward, who also plays as an offensive midfielder, scored 14 goals in 35 Serie A games in 2023-24, showcasing his precision finishing and creativity in the final third.

His versatility as an attacking midfielder, winger, or forward provides the Toffees with much-needed depth in the attacking third, where they have struggled to score consistently.

Gudmundsson’s work rate and dribbling ability, honed in competitive leagues such as Serie A and the Eredivisie, are consistent with Moyes’ predilection for dynamic, hard-working players.

His international experience with Iceland, including the 2018 World Cup, brings maturity and leadership to Everton’s squad, which is entering a new era under Friedkin Group ownership.

With the Merseyside club’s stated interest in a new striker and Moyes’ considerable summer budget, his valuation makes him a low-cost, high-impact addition to the Toffees’ ambitions at Bramley-Moore Dock, perhaps propelling them into European contention.
