Rangers have a history of losing promising players to clubs south of the border, with Billy Gilmour’s departure to Chelsea being the most notable example.
The Gers have struggled to integrate young players into their first-team roster, which has had a negative long-term impact.
And, for all the excitement of incoming additions at Ibrox once the takeover is complete, players will certainly go in the following months.
Oliver Goodbrand wanted by Newcastle
Oliver Goodbrand is a relatively unknown name among Rangers fans, although he is seen as a potential future star.
However, the Record has stated that Goodbrand is ready to decline a fresh deal at Ibrox.
It was later rumoured that he could instead join English Premier League powerhouse Newcastle United.
While Derek Ferguson is disappointed by the news, he and other Rangers fans are used to it, and the Gers have been guilty of it themselves.
“We’ve seen this plenty of times with Rangers and Celtic plucking better players from Hearts, Hibs, etc. It’s the way of the world,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

Dundee United | 14 May | Ibrox |
Hibernian | 17 May | Easter Road |
“It’s disappointing and is very similar to Billy Gilmour a few years back. He was the next big thing but the next thing you know, Chelsea offer the big bucks and off he goes.
“It’s the way football works. It’s about more than just finance and what you can offer a player, and that’s why Rangers need to get these players into the first team as early as possible.
“They need to have a taste of senior football and to be told they’ll be playing regularly if they stay at Ibrox.”
Rangers need to get youngsters into starting line-up
Rangers’ season is gone, but there are still a few games left to play, so the coaching staff has an opportunity to bring in new players.
Many Gers fans would like to see more consistent playing time, but the truth is that they have just not been given enough opportunities.
If Goodbrand leaves, it serves as another reminder to Rangers that they cannot simply sit on these kids and hope they will stay.
