Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Rangers “stole” Celtic’s game in their last Old Firm derby, but he is determined to make sure his team is fully prepared for the rematch at Parkhead on Sunday.

The Ibrox side dominated the previous meeting on January 2, securing a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Ianis Hagi, Robin Propper, and Danilo. While Rodgers acknowledged that Rangers deserved the win, he is confident that Celtic won’t allow history to repeat itself.
Rodgers: ‘Rangers Took Our Game’
Reflecting on the last derby, Rodgers said:
“Rangers stole our game that day. That is normally how we play and how we do, but they took it from us and deserved the win. But we will be ready for the demands of that game.”
The Hoops boss also hinted that Celtic weren’t at their best in the last meeting, but this time, he expects a much stronger performance.
“I said before, I’d never had the team really like that in any of those games. So, the demands that are needed to play in that game, we will be ready for them next week, like we were in the first game.”

Will Rangers Look Different Under Barry Ferguson?
With Barry Ferguson now in the dugout following Philippe Clement’s exit, Rodgers was asked if he expects a different approach from Rangers this time.
“I think when I analyse Rangers, I see the team that is still doing what they have done all season. They are very good in Europe, probably a wee bit inconsistent domestically, but the strengths of the team are in the counter-attack. We have to be mindful of that.”
Rodgers acknowledged that Ferguson will bring passion and professionalism, but insisted that his own hunger for victory is just as strong.
“Barry will come with passion and professionalism and will want to make a result here, but I do as well. It will be a great game, we will look forward to it and when it arrives it will be brilliant.”
A Potential Title-Decider?
With Celtic sitting 16 points clear at the top, a win on Sunday would all but secure the league title. However, a victory for Rangers could delay the celebrations and inject fresh life into the title race.
