Liverpool’s injury news before of their Carabao Cup final versus Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium.
Arne Slot has provided an updated Liverpool injury update for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate.
The two were forced off in Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 penalty shootout loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Alexander-Arnold left the game in the 73rd minute due to an ankle injury. Konate, meanwhile, was substituted in extra time due to a cramp.
Alexander-Arnold was scheduled to have scans today to ascertain the extent of his injury, as Liverpool prepares to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. Konate should be fine to play, according to head coach Slot. The Reds’ manager told the club’s website: “Not on Trent because it is too early to say.” We expected Ibou to be weary or have cramps, so we’re hoping and expecting him to be ready to play again on Sunday.
As it stands, Quansah will play on the right side of defence against Newcastle. That’s because constable Conor Bradley is still recovering from a hamstring injury, while the versatile Joe Gomez underwent surgery for a same condition last week.
Following the PSG encounter, Slot stated that Alexander-Arnold was unlikely to play against Newcastle. After receiving several minutes of treatment, the right-back was unable to continue and was replaced by Jarell Quansah.
