Jota cannot resist a dig at Rangers as he shares his feelings regarding second Celtic spell and working under Brendan Rodgers

Jota’s return to Celtic has been a resounding success thus far, albeit there is a sense that much more is to come from the Portuguese winger.

Since joining from Rennes in January, he has appeared in ten games across all competitions, scoring three goals and assisted on another.

Jota is still establishing himself after a long time of inconsistent play abroad, and he is well-positioned to have a solid finish to the season before attempting to reach the heights of his first stay from pre-season and beyond.

The winger previously worked under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic, so Brendan Rodgers as manager is a fresh experience for him.

Jota is enjoying getting to know his new boss, as he spoke to Celtic TV this week ahead of Sunday’s game against Rangers.

He stated, “Brendan is someone who instills confidence in us while also imposing a great deal of responsibility. He sets high expectations for us because he knows we are capable. The standards are high, and I truly enjoy the way we train and play.

“As a group, we are all very together and we fight for the same thing. I think the connection between the coach and the players has been really nice.”

That Rangers match is approaching quickly, and Jota can’t wait to experience it again.

The attacker has pleasant recollections of the derby. He’s scored four goals against Ibrox in ten games, winning six of them.

The chance to accomplish it again is one to seize, and Jota’s focus is obvious.

He said, “It’s something different. It’s a very unique feeling. It’s something that every gamer should experience once in their lives. Fortunately for us and for me, I’ve had the opportunity to play a large number of them, and I still want to play many more. I’m simply enthused about it.

“I feel like every game is a different game, but we tend to focus on ourselves. It’s not because it’s going to be a big rival that we are going to think differently or do different stuff.

“No, we have our philosophy. We have our aim for the game. We know exactly what to do.”
