Everton have the ability to make some intriguing transfers during the next summer window.
Everton may have a busy summer ahead of them, as they prepare to say goodbye to a number of players whose contracts are coming to an end.
David Moyes wants to see more players signed at Everton after a quiet January transfer season.
The Toffees appear to have a decent chance of avoiding relegation this season, with Premier League football and funds moving into Bramley-Moore Dock.
With money no longer an impediment, the Friedkins intend to make a big signing in the summer to kick off the new stadium.
However, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has advised them against making what he considers to be a massive transfer mistake.
Jamie Carragher thinks Everton could make huge transfer mistake
Everton are hoping to bring Richarlison back to Merseyside this summer, as his time at Tottenham Hotspur has come under investigation.
The attacker joined Spurs from Everton for £60 million in 2022, but it was not the transfer he had hoped for.
Speaking on Redmen TV, Carragher warned Everton against acquiring Richarlison following a difficult few years in north London.
“Every team that has a good striker, you can’t have unbelievable back-up for them. Harry Kane at Tottenham, who are you going to buy to sit on the bench?” Carragher said.
“Antonio Conte tried it by bringing in Richarlison for £60m, and it’s been a disaster the actual transfer fee.
“He probably thought he could get away with it. He had [Heung-min] Son on the left and Kane up front. Richarlison can do both, but Richarlison just sat on the bench every week. Unless they’re getting an injury, they’re missing games and at the end you’ve spent £60m on a guy who’s on the bench.”
Not only is Richarlison’s transfer fee a fiasco, but he has also suffered greatly due to injuries.
His time at Tottenham has never really taken off, and just when it appeared to be improving last season, he had another injury.
Richarlison looks set for summer exit at Tottenham
As his difficulties persist, it appears that the wisest answer for all parties this summer would be for the 27-year-old to go on.
If Richarlison does decide to leave N17, he wants to stay in the Premier League.
That might open the door for Everton to make a move, with Tottenham seeking roughly £40 million to sign Richarlison.
However, any club interested in the Brazilian faces a significant risk.
Many fans would welcome a return to Merseyside, but the Friedkins must decide whether this is a heart-felt or logical option.
