Police Scotland has made a seventh arrest in connection with the violent clashes between Celtic and Rangers fans ahead of the Old Firm League Cup Final last December, as stop and search powers are enforced ahead of Sunday’s derby.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged on Friday, March 14, as part of the ongoing investigation into large-scale disorder that erupted in Glasgow before the Premier Sports Cup Final at Hampden on December 15.
Ongoing Investigation & Previous Arrests
This latest development follows the arrests of six others after ultras from both clubs clashed in the city centre just days before Christmas.
Four men—aged 23, 26, 27, and 28—were detained on February 7, followed by the arrests of two others, aged 22 and 38, on February 9. All six appeared in court on February 10, charged with breach of the peace.
Bystanders out Christmas shopping were caught up in the chaos, with terrified screams heard in social media footage, which also appeared to show objects being hurled at police officers.
An officer was injured, while a 26-year-old man was hospitalised following a serious assault during the disorder.
Police Crackdown Ahead of Old Firm Clash

With tensions running high ahead of the next Celtic vs. Rangers showdown at Celtic Park on Sunday, March 16, Police Scotland has enforced stop and search powers across Glasgow.
Under Section 60 powers, officers will have the authority to search individuals for weapons or items used to conceal identities. These searches will be conducted on both pedestrians and vehicles, where deemed necessary and appropriate.
The stop and search operation will be in effect from 8:00 AM until 11:50 PM across various areas of the city.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing, urging anyone with information to contact authorities via 101.
