Brendan Rodgers stated that he did not perceive any significant changes in Rangers from the Philippe Clement era heading before the game.
But Kris Boyd has told the Celtic manager that he did saw a different side today, as Barry Ferguson guided the team to three Premiership points in Glasgow’s east end.
The Parkhead manager was in bullish form before derby day, but Barry Ferguson led his side to victory at Celtic Park.
The visitors entered Derby Day on a high after Ferguson guided Rangers to the Europa League quarterfinals with an amazing penalty shootout victory over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce.
But, with his team 16 points clear at the top, Rodgers was unconcerned, believing there had been no major shakeup since Ferguson took over the dugout.
But Ibrox fan favourite Boyd believes he has witnessed a significant change and will leave Celtic Park with some huge reservations about the next rivalry match.
Despite winning the Premier Sports Cup after their match against the Light Blues, the Hoops were pushed all the way at Hampden. They triumphed on penalties after a tumultuous 3-3 draw.
Rodgers’ side then suffered a 3-0 defeat at Ibrox, and they were unable to exact retribution on their own turf this time around.
Boyd told Sky Sports: “Listen, Celtic obviously won the cup final, but I’d be concerned if I were Brendan Rodgers now – nine goals conceded in three games.”
“They won the cup final but it wasn’t really something we have seen – especially here (at Celtic Park).
“Anybody coming here, they just don’t score goals, but Rangers could have had four or five.
“Second half you would expect Celtic to have a lot of the ball and penetrate Rangers – and that is exactly what happened, and Rangers were able to find a winner.
“But Rangers in the first half were excellent, take nothing away from them. Brendan Rodgers had a pop in terms of he has not really seen anything different – he has today.”
