Robbie Savage chided Chris Sutton after Rangers defeated Celtic 3-2 in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Brendan Rodgers lost his second Old Firm derby in a straight on March 16, with Barry Ferguson’s squad scoring three goals at Parkhead.
Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande gave the Light Blues a two-goal lead in the first half, but Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate levelled for the hosts.
However, Hamza Igamane grabbed the three points for the Gers by netting a late winner in the 88th minute.
Sutton laughed at after Rangers win v Celtic
Savage smiled at Sutton as the Bears defeated Celtic in the final minutes at Parkhead.
The former Celtic star shared his thoughts on social media and took a sly dig at the Gers for still being 13 points behind their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership.
Scottish Premiership table (2024/25) | Points |
1. Celtic | 75 |
2. Rangers | 62 |
But the Macclesfield manager, who hosts the 606 podcast on BBC Radio 5 Live with Sutton, reacted hysterically to the ex-striker’s post and appeared to take a sly dig.
Savage wrote on X (16 March) while sharing Sutton’s post with laughing emojis: “08085909693 looking forward to 606 later.”
Ferguson gets better of Rodgers at Parkhead
Sutton was bullish heading into the game at Parkhead, predicting that the Hoops would easily defeat Rangers.
Given Ferguson’s lack of managerial experience, it was not surprise that many people sided against the Light Blues.
After defeating Fenerbahce in the last-16, the interim manager shown his ability to face any side in the Europa League, including Jose Mourinho.
Ferguson made only one alteration at Parkhead and appeared to be confidence in the new system he has introduced at the Bears.
While the Gers have demonstrated defensive fragility in every match under the Scotsman’s charge, the last two results are encouraging.
As interim manager, he has now beaten both Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers, an achievement that will likely pique the interest of potential new owners.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises must be happy with the latest results as they work to complete their takeover of the Light Blues.
For the time being, Ibrox fans will be relieved that Sutton has been proven wrong.
