Shane Beamer’s Recruiting Momentum Continues With Top Interior OL Prospect
The South Carolina Gamecocks have secured a major recruiting victory, landing elite interior offensive lineman Zyon Guiles over powerhouse programs Georgia and Clemson.
Guiles, the No. 3-ranked interior offensive lineman in the country according to On3, announced his commitment to South Carolina on Thursday, citing the family atmosphere and player development under head coach Shane Beamer as key factors in his decision.
Why Guiles Chose South Carolina
Despite offers from top-tier programs, the highly sought-after lineman felt that Columbia was the perfect fit.
“What made them right for me I’d definitely say is the family aspect of it,” Guiles told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “The development. It was great. Really just, I can see myself being around the coaching staff. How they treat their families was good. It’s definitely somewhere I see myself coming in and playing.”
Guiles also had high praise for Beamer, who has transformed South Carolina into a formidable SEC contender since taking over.
“Coach Beamer, he’s great,” Guiles said. “He’s really turned the program around. A lot of recruits are flocking to the school and it’s great.”
Offensive Line Coach Lonnie Teasley a Key Factor
South Carolina’s offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley also played a major role in Guiles’ decision.
“Coach Teasley, he’s great,” Guiles said. “I talked to him frequently. He tells me how I can fit into the program, he shows me the way I play can fit. He looks at me as a guy that can come in and play right away, which stands out to me.”
Gamecocks on the Rise
Coming off a nine-win season in 2024—including a signature win over Clemson—South Carolina is quickly gaining momentum on the recruiting trail.
Guiles sees the potential for even bigger things ahead.
“They have the right coaches, recruits, to turn around the program and the potential to win a National Championship,” he said.
