While bridging the Rangers-Celtic divide is unimaginable for most fans, it has been done numerous times.
No less than 20 players have played for both Rangers and Celtic, which is surprising given how ferocious the Old Firm rivalry can be.
However, this does not mean that any Rangers or Celtic players who decide to make the transition will not face intense examination.
Following speculation about a possible move to Ibrox, one Celtic star has now rejected such claims.
’No chance’ Celtic star would move to Rangers
Francis Turley, a Northern Ireland youth international, is one of Celtic’s most promising young players.
Turley signed a three-year contract with Parkhead in 2022, having previously played for League of Ireland team Glentoran.
This season, the 19-year-old earned his Celtic debut in August, replacing Reo Hatate in a Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren.
However, speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, the midfielder stated that he turned down the opportunity to join Rangers due to his loyalty to the Parkhead club.
“Everyone from where I am from supported Celtic so signing for them was a bit mad,” Turley explains.
“I had a few options, a few in Scotland — Aberdeen and Rangers — and a few in England — Ipswich, Burnley and others.
“But I wanted the Celtic move to work out. Rangers wasn’t going to happen, no chance.
“I’m living my boyhood dream, my family support Celtic and now I’m at the club.”
Celtic defender Greg Taylor tipped for Rangers move
Francis Turley is not the only Rangers-linked player currently playing for Celtic.
Rangers are expected to sign Celtic left-back Greg Taylor when his present contract expires at the end of the season.
Kris Boyd predicted that Rangers will sign Taylor, citing the bluenose left-back’s lack of recognition at Celtic Park.
“If you’re Rangers, would you offer Greg Taylor a contract?” Boyd asked.
”Just when you think of (Ridvan) Yilmaz and Jefte. I think Greg Taylor has shown for a consistent period of time now how consistent he has been.
”If he’s not going to be at Celtic, he said he want to play football, he wants to play regular. Could we see him switch sides in Glasgow?”
Craig Moore also urged Rangers to consider Taylor, citing the erratic play of left-back options Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz this season.
