The 62-year-old confessed he was impressed by the 2,000-plus travelling supporters, but made it clear that their taunting would be fleeting.
Impressed Ally McCoist has doffed his cap to Celtic fans who chanted ‘Simply The Best’ at Ibrox after the Rangers star was taunted about creating a new club hymn.
The 62-year-old confessed he was thrilled by the 2,000-plus travelling fans who chanted the Tina Turner song as they claimed the legendary Light Blue fan shout after winning their 13th championship in 14 seasons.
And host and Celtic fan Shebahn Aherne couldn’t resist asking the Rangers hero to consider what song could replace ‘Simply The Best’ if Celtic fans try to claim it for good.
He said, “I like that, I don’t mind; well, it’s going to have to be ‘Next Year’, so that gets it. I’m having the Foo Fighters and a little Dave Grohl.”
However, McCoist made it clear that while he was pleased to praise their local rivals, he believes only one team can claim to be the best in Glasgow.
A pumped-up McCoist, said: “No, no, no, we’re still ‘Simply The Best’, but I must admit, I didn’t mind that, I thought it was quite amusing.
“If you want to celebrate a draw at our place, you can celebrate a draw at our place.”
