Overall, it has been a forgettable season for Rangers, with the sole consolation being their Europa League success.

The Light Blues advanced to the competition’s quarter-finals before being eliminated by Athletic Bilbao, who are currently second only to Manchester United.

However, the Gers will be given another chance at one of Europe’s elite championships, with Agbonlahor explaining what they accomplished throughout their current run.

Rangers could be set for another Europa League campaign

Rangers are expected to finish second in the Scottish Premiership, qualifying for the Champions League qualifying rounds; but, if a similar destiny awaits them next season, they may be relegated to the Europa League.

Celtic appear to be aiming for a Champions League spot, and Alan Brazil drew a comparison between them, Tottenham, and Manchester United on talkSPORT (8 May, 6:51 am).

“If it’s Man United or Spurs, are they better equipped for the Champions League than Celtic next season?

“Do you think Celtic would have been more equipped for a Europa League run like Rangers have been? Celtic would get to a semi-final of the Europa League, to which Brazil replied “yes.”

“Look at the great runs Rangers have had in recent years in the Europa League, imagine what Celtic would do in that competition.”

Rangers will, of course, have a huge summer ahead of them, and if they can recruit well, there is every chance that they make it into the Champions League, or have an even better chance of going all the way in the Europa League.”

European success is huge for Scottish clubs

First and foremost, the further these teams advance in European events, the more probable the coefficient will rise.

Rangers may certainly go one step higher in the future, but they must make the proper decisions away from the pitch, something they have recently failed to do.

With Ferguson’s future uncertain, the next few months will be critical for the Light Blues as they attempt to get back on track and compete domestically with Celtic.
