A return to Celtic is a “chance” following Kyogo Furuhashi’s injury to Jota.

The 30-year-old has experienced a miserable stint at Stade Rennes since leaving the Scottish Premiership champions in January.

He has yet to score his first goal for his new club following his £10 million transfer, with underwhelmed manager Habib Beye handing the Japan international only one start thus far.

And things have only gotten worse for the attacker in recent weeks, as he has failed to make the 21-man squad sheet in the last three games.

A persistent shoulder ailment plagued him throughout his time with Celtic in Glasgow, but Beye has stated that the striker’s absence is not due to the injury.

He said: “The squad is virtually complete. Only Ayanda Sishuba and Alidu Seidu are injured.”

He will now try to receive the nod for Saturday’s game against Nice, with Beye laying down the gauntlet to his players to impress him before the end of the Ligue 1 season.

With only two games left, he added, “We’ve taken the team on as we went along.” The group had to accept the amount of intensity we imposed on them.

“Ot has nothing to do with their physical capacity, because we know they all have it.

“It’s more a question of the connection between each of them in terms of their state of mind and we want to see more of that from the players.

“We’ll take stock at the end of the season and assume our responsibilities.”

However, following his return to Celtic Park, the Portuguese star will be sidelined for nine months due to injury, leaving Brendan Rodgers’ side short in the attacking third.

Speaking to Open Goal, host Paul Slane claimed that he will do everything possible to get Kyogo back for next season following Jota’s injury, with whispers in Japan circulating about a return to the Hoops.

Former Rangers player Andy Halliday responded: “The crazy thing is, there would be a chance as well. He isn’t playing at all. I believe Brendan Rodgers would take him back.
