Everton activated a €15 million buy option for Carlos Alcaraz making him one of highest earners at the club

According to respected trade journalist Fabrizio Romano, Everton has exercised Carlos Alcaraz’s buy option in his contract. The Blues will make his stay permanent for a reputed sum of €15 million.

Everton sign Carlos Alcaraz on loan in late deal

Alcaraz joined the Blues on loan from Brazilian club Flamengo on the final day of the winter transfer window and has made 16 Premier League appearances.

He had two goals and three assists during that time. Alcaraz scored the final goal of Everton’s season, sealing a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

“Everton activate €15m buy option clause for Charly Alcaraz from Flamengo. €3m add-ons as part of the package with deal set to be sealed,” Romano posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Carlos Alcaraz’s remuneration at Everton is not publicly stated, however it is known that the club pays Alcaraz’s £19,000-per-week salary in full. Spotrac.com also mentions a potential four-year contract with a basic salary of £2,080,000.

Alcaraz’s contract had a clause that would have made his stay permanent after 12 starts.

However, given the uncertainties surrounding relegation and the status of several player contracts, David Moyes was advised to be cautious about the player.

As a result, Alcaraz spent much of his loan time on the bench.

Despite his little playing time, the 22-year-old Argentine midfielder has quickly become a fan favourite, and signing him for a low amount is likely to strengthen the Blues team ahead of a busy summer.
