Celtic have made a lot of noise over the road since the season ended.
Rangers have new financing in the form of the 49ers Enterprise, which means they will conquer the world, as many fans at Celtic Park have been hearing for years.
This is Brendan Rodgers’ second term in charge, and on both occasions, he has dealt with Rangers by making more noise than producing on the pitch, which is why he has won four titles out of four.
Celtic won their 55th title this season despite losing out on the Treble due to a penalty shootout loss to Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final last month.
It demonstrates how dominant Celtic are that the club’s current disappointment is not winning a trophy, but a treble.
However, after Rangers’ new investment was all but guaranteed, Simon Jordan reacted to the situation.
Simon Jordan on Celtic gap after Rangers statement
Rangers sent a statement to their fans informing them that ‘£20 million of new investment will be made available’ ahead of the summer transfer market reopening.
That was challenged to Jordan, and he made it plain that he ‘wouldn’t be too enthused by that statement’, as well as highlighting the ‘pretty big’ gap between Celtic and Rangers, according to talkSPORT.
Jim White stated: “The club says ‘£20m of new investment will be made available in the summer’. Supporters will think, ‘well, hopefully, that’s just the start. That’s good, but that’s just the start’.”
Jordan responded: “Yeah, I mean, I don’t know what difference that is going to make.
“Ultimately, you have got a club that is quite significantly behind Celtic. Although they have landed some gloves on Celtic in the last season, which they hadn’t done previously. I wouldn’t be too excited by the statement that ‘£20m is being made available’.
“My big question was. What is the big motivation for the ownership? What does it achieve? How important is Scottish football? And what does it give to these new owners, in terms of their percentage interest in this football club?
“Does it become that’s slightly disadvantageous to Rangers, and preferential to Leeds? In terms of Rangers players finding their way in the Leeds team, rather than potentially finding their way and allowing Rangers to dominate Scottish football. Of course, they will push back on that.”
Celtic and Rangers’ trophies since 2000
As previously stated, Rodgers won four titles out of four in his two stints as manager, including four in a row for the club, and 14 of the last 15.
Even this season, Celtic were a touch off in 2025, losing two Glasgow derbies, but they still managed to come away with the trophy.
However, Celtic have appeared to be a level above Rangers not only this season but also in recent years. The indications have been around for decades.
Celtic has 42 trophies since 2000, where as Rangers have 18.
