Kyogo Furuhashi, the former Celtic striker, is reportedly on the transfer list at Stade Rennais and is highly likely to be sold this summer.
Having left Celtic for the French club in the January transfer window for £10 million, his tenure in Ligue 1 has been challenging.
Furuhashi, 30, has made only six appearances for Stade Rennais since his arrival and has yet to score his debut goal for the club during the second half of last season. His difficult period in France is largely attributed to a change in head coach shortly after his transfer.
In May 2025, Stade Rennais appointed a new sporting director, Loïc Désiré, whose primary objective is to reduce the club’s wage bill and streamline the first-team squad. As a result, Kyogo has been placed on the transfer list.

According to L’Equipe, Stade Rennais would be willing to accept just over £5 million for Kyogo, effectively halving the fee they paid for him in January. This valuation could present an intriguing opportunity for Celtic to re-sign their former hero at a cut price.
While there have been speculative links connecting Celtic with a move to bring Kyogo back to Glasgow, no concrete reports have emerged suggesting it is a distinct possibility. However, securing him for around £5 million would not only see Celtic make a £5 million profit from his initial sale but also bring a prolific striker back into their squad.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly in search of a new striker to complement Adam Idah, making a potential return for Kyogo a logical, though perhaps still unlikely, prospect. It is worth noting, however, that Celtic is also reportedly close to signing Callum Osmand from Fulham, which could influence their pursuit of other attacking targets.
Currently, it appears Celtic has not formally approached Rennes regarding a return for Kyogo. Instead, EFL Championship side Birmingham City is reportedly in a prime position to sign the Japanese international, having made initial contact with Rennes following their promotion.
